Zak The Ripper, a comedy filmed in and around Brighton, Newhaven, and nearby parts of Sussex, is approaching the end of filming, with an anticipated release date of summer 2027.

The film is the latest collaboration between producer, writer, and director Warren Dudley and producer and director of photography Matt Cotton.

It features rising comedy star Jack Skipper, who has gained a large following online for his observational humour and social media sketches, alongside Sy Thomas, Tiff Stevenson, and Richard Herring.

The plot follows Zak Harris, newly divorced and awkwardly single, whose attempt to get back into dating takes a disastrous turn when his first date turns up dead.

When more bodies begin to appear, Zak suddenly finds himself the prime suspect in a very unusual murder investigation.

Filming locations have included Crowhurst, where close-up shots of lead actor Sy Thomas were filmed on private land off Sampsons Lane.

Brighton residents may recognise The Lighthouse Building in Argus Lofts, Kensington Street, and the city centre, where a press conference was filmed as one of the opening scenes.

Additional footage was shot in properties in Newhaven and at film studios in Worthing.

Co-producer Natasha Britton said: “Matt and Warren are both Sussex based, and this is a collaborative project between the two of them, so it made sense to make use of local talent to find the cast and crew.”

Mr Skipper added: “It’s a brilliant cast and a great team, and I’ve really enjoyed being part of it.

“I can’t wait for people to see the film.”

Principal photography is now nearing completion, with the film set to enter post-production.
