The first weekend into October has led to some shocking shakeups at the box office.

The re-release of “Avengers: Endgame” has reclaimed the title of highest-grossing movie in box office history from “Avatar,” thanks to a recent re-release.

The margins are tight though. According to Variety, “Endgame” has grossed $2.95 billion, just above “Avatar’s” $2.93 billion.

The two films have gone back and forth for the title since their respective releases.

“Endgame” returned to theaters for a limited run on Sept. 25, with additional footage and deeper look at the upcoming “Avenges: Doomsday,” releasing December 18.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise’s highly anticipated “Digger” has proven to be a box office flop.

According to Variety, the film took in only $8 million at the box office in North America and just $20 million globally.

The outlet reports that the film was expected to make at least $12 million to $15 million, with experts noting it would have had to clear $40 million to justify its reported $160 million to $180 million budget.

With the low numbers, “Digger” is on track to be one of the biggest flops of the year if not all time.

Reviews for the movie weren’t great, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 51% and a CinemaScore of C+ (CinemaScore polls audiences as they exit the theater for a real-time reaction).

Topping the box office this weekend was the Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson erotic thriller “Verity,” adapted from the novel by Colleen Hoover. “Verity” took in $32 million domestically.

In second place was “Resident Evil,” followed by the Brad Pitt film “Heart of the Beast,” with Robert Pattinson’s Chris Hansen drama “Primetime” coming in fourth place.
