The small thing Jarno Widar did exceptionally well.

Cor Vos
Sometimes, and particularly in Italian autumn as the leaves begin to fall and things begin to slow down, it’s important to take a moment to appreciate a small thing done exceptionally well.
Jarno Widar, 20 years old, won the Tre Valli Vallesine today. The young Lotto-Intermarché rider did so over the top of two hitters, at the top of their respective games: Visma-Lease a Bike’s Matteo Jorgenson and Pinarello-Q36.5’s Tom Pidcock. He did so with a perfectly executed layback, a veteran’s move perfected by a near teenager, that required a level of patience and timing many seasoned pros never attain.
The three of them were in a breakaway together, with a chase group closing fast, as they rode under the flamme rouge denoting one kilometer to go. Jorgenson was fresh off a most valuable teammate performance with the US squad at worlds. Pidcock has only been outside the top 10 in one race since the end of the Tour de France. Widar, with a fraction of their palmares, did not show a single hint of nerves.
