Norfolk County Council will hold the events at recycling centres across the county this autumn, offering locals a free and safe way to dispose of items such as aerosols, anti-freeze, drain cleaners, fertilisers, paint and weed killer.
The first event will take place at Norwich South Recycling Centre on Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17.
Additional dates include King’s Lynn Recycling Centre on October 23 and 24, Thetford on October 30 and 31, and Caister Recycling Centre on November 6 and 7.
Events will also be held at Dereham on November 13 and 14, Hempton on November 20 and 21 and Norwich North on November 27 and 28.
People must book online or by phone, with booking opening eight days before each event.
The service is strictly for household waste and commercial or organisational waste will not be accepted.
As part of Reform-led Norfolk County Council’s budget proposals for next year, they intend to reduce the number of hazardous waste amnesty days, to save £200,000 a year.
That move has been criticised by political opponents.
Kay Mason Billing, leader of the Conservative group at County Hall, said: “That risks creating precisely the wrong incentive.
“It will make responsible disposal harder and some waste may end up fly-tipped, leaving Norfolk’s district councils, and ultimately the same taxpayers, to pick up the bill.”
