The Sixty-Year Mission: How Star Trek Changed Television and the World arrives in theaters on October 9. Described as “the definitive documentary event celebrating the creation, cultural influence, and enduring legacy of Star Trek,” it’s written and directed by Inglorious Trekspert/producer/author/podcaster Mark Altman, with Star Trek icon William Shatner as an executive producer. We have a couple of new clips giving you preview of the movie.

Clip 1: Shatner on Nimoy’s Spock

As executive producer, William Shatner is a key part of the documentary, popping in throughout. In the following clip, the original Captain Kirk talks about what it was like sharing billing and screentime with Leonard Nimoy’s Spock during Star Trek: The Original Series. Also featured in the clip is TOS casting director Joseph D’Agosta.

Clip 2: Spock’s unique appeal

The second new clip is also about Spock, and how the character had a particularly strong connection to some, including people on the spectrum or others who felt different. The clip features Star Trek IV’s Punk on the bus Kirk Thatcher and Voyager writer )and Discovery co-creator) Bryan Fuller talking about what Star Trek meant to them.
