Star Wars Zero Company team Bit Reactor has confirmed it’s been able to start returning to work the staff it was forced to furlough in the lead-up to the strategy game’s launch.
A new social media post from the developer shared that it’s brought “more of our team back to work at Bit Reactor” as it looks to continue support of the title, potentially opening it up to the possibility of DLC alongside standard updates.
“Having to ask team members to step away after we navigated unexpected business developments outside of our control and so close to launch was an incredibly difficult decision, but one that was necessary to help us eventually bring as many people back as possible,” said CEO Greg Foertsch.
He continued: “This team means a tremendous amount to me, and I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. Thank you to our fans for the incredible response to the game and for supporting us along this journey. We look forward to sharing more updates regarding Bit Reactor and Zero Company soon.”

Bit Reactor had been forced to furlough roughly 80% of its workforce, which meant they weren’t getting paid as the studio had run out of money weeks before the game’s launch. Apparently, the decision to furlough staff came from within Bit Reactor itself — publisher EA didn’t play a part.
Foertsch mentions the process means “more” of the team is returning to work at Bit Reactor, but it’s not clear yet whether everyone furloughed will come back in time. For now, the studio is back to giving some team members a salary and looking to support Star Wars Zero Company again.
That’ll be worth doing because the game launched to critical acclaim, and according to one analyst, sold fairly well. A rating of 85 on Metacritic means it’s a high-quality strategy experience, and we said: “Star Wars Zero Company is by and large a great turn-based strategy game, featuring a neat cast of characters and deep, compelling tactical missions. It’s complex but not complicated, with several layers to the action that never overwhelm.”
It’s just quite buggy on PS5, so with more staff back working at the developer, let’s hope more patches to fix the issues arrive fast.
