Burnham then turns to his remarks on The Rest is Politics podcast, where he accused Russian of interfering on UK politics.

“It’s a matter of record…that Russian actors sought to interfere in the [2019] general election and we think it’s inconceivable that this was the first time.”

Burnham moves on to address some of Badenoch’s remarks about his government’s stance on defence, saying that his government is spending £14bn more every year, compared to the Tories’ last year in government.

Burnham then says the UK will continue to work with US counterparts at RAF Fairford.

That wraps up his response to the leader of the opposition. Burnham is now taking questions from other MPs.

For context: The £14bn increase referenced by Burnham comes from figures provided by the Ministry of Defence. The MoD says spending in the last year of the Conservative government was £53.9bn, with £68.3bn expected in 2026-27. It does not take into account rising prices – the real term spending increase is closer to £9bn.
