Considine moves up from operations leader to take the top job on 19 October.
The civil engineer joined in 2007 and rose to project leader in 2021. His track record includes work on Old Oak Common and the Olympia redevelopment.
Considine replaces Ray O’Rourke’s nephew Stephen O’Rourke who left the firm last month to explore opportunities outside the business.
He will report directly to Jean-Pierre de Villiers, director of Laing O’Rourke’s specialist trading business group.
De Villiers said: “Throughout his career Conor has been at the forefront of shaping and embedding modern methods of construction, using his knowledge to implement innovative approaches in complex design and build environments.
“In addition to his technical expertise Conor has a reputation as someone who leads with great care – supporting developing talent and shaping high-performing teams, inspiring them to push boundaries and enabling colleagues to achieve their full potential.”
