The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will undertake three engagements in Nottingham on Thursday.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will undertake three engagements in Nottingham on Thursday, their office has revealed. The couple’s first visit will be to a youth and community charity in their first joint engagement since returning to the UK.

The Community Recording Studio (CRS) in St Ann’s, Nottingham, was originally set up to give young people access to music and recording facilities and now offers them a range of creative activities to take part in, alongside sport, mentoring and youth development. Harry visited there when he returned to the UK for a series of engagements last year.

During their visit, the duke and duchess are set to get a first-hand look at the organisation, which aims to help young people facing poverty, instability, exploitation or violence build confidence and develop practical skills.

They will also visit two further charitable initiatives that day. Nottingham holds fonds memories for the couple, as they made their first joint appearance there after announcing their engagement in 2017.

The joint visit to Nottingham will be their first royal-style engagement together since their return – with their itinerary closely mirroring that of senior working royals, despite the pair stepping down from their roles in 2020.

Harry’s interest with the community began with a private visit to St Ann’s in 2013, and there has since been backing for a programme, supported by The Royal Foundation to help young people find alternatives to violence and crime.

It is believed Meghan has met young people supported by this scheme and has also had private visits to its girls’ nurture group.

Other visits on Thursday include one to coincide with World Food Poverty Day on Friday, with Meghan set to celebrate the legacy of her Together: Our Community Cookbook and the couple will visit a charity supporting children, young people, and families in St Ann’s and Sneinton, Nottingham, through youth work, sport, mentoring and education.

Harry and Meghan moved back to the UK at the end of August and the family are understood to have settled in the Cotswolds, with their children enjoying time at their new school.

But the couple have been involved in a public spat with Buckingham Palace about their status and security detail.

Last month, a letter sent on the King’s instruction insisted that Harry and Meghan should be viewed as “private citizens” on their return to the UK, which “surprised” the Sussexes.

They have both expressed their happiness about returning to the UK despite the public disagreements over their security detail.
