Andover Radio and Love Andover organised the red-carpet event, which celebrated the town’s musicians, singers, DJs, bands and performers.

Ben Tuffin, SJ Grace and Alun Grace created the awards to recognise local artists.

Mr Tuffin said: “When we first started talking about the Andover Music Awards, we wanted to create something that would make local musicians feel like absolute superstars.”

He said seeing The Lights packed with musicians, families and supporters had been “quite overwhelming”. The evening, he added, celebrated people who contribute to the town’s cultural life.

Mr Tuffin also praised Andover’s musical heritage and its next generation of talent.

He said: “Andover has produced some incredible talent over the years. Chris Britton and The Troggs are proof of that. But what’s equally exciting is the talent coming through right now.”

SJ Grace said organisers had worked hard on the event and were thrilled to see finalists and winners enjoying the night.

She said: “There were so many happy faces, and it was wonderful to see everyone supporting each other.”

She added: “We’ve already got so many ideas for next year.”

Alun Grace said organisers were overwhelmed by the response after receiving 460 nominations for the first awards.

He said: “What’s really encouraging is that this wasn’t just about individual artists or bands. The whole music community came together.”

He said organisers hoped the awards would become an annual event: “We’ve created something that belongs to Andover.”

The ceremony marked a milestone for Andover’s music scene, with organisers hoping to make it a regular celebration of local talent.
