The change is being made by Mattishall & Lenwade Surgeries and will take effect next week from October 19.
The pharmacy will no longer have access to patients’ NHS records or NHS numbers, and repeat prescription slips will not be provided with medication.
A spokesman for Mattishall and Lenwade Surgeries said: “We appreciate your understanding and support while we make this important change to our pharmacy systems.
“We are working together to support your healthcare.”
Paper prescriptions from the surgery will no longer be needed, as all prescriptions will now be sent electronically to the pharmacy.
As part of the transition, the pharmacy will not be able to process acute same-day or urgent medication requests from 1pm on Thursday, October 15, until 10am on Monday, October 19.
Patients who need urgent medication during this period will need to have their prescriptions sent to another pharmacy.
The pharmacy will continue to offer Pharmacy First consultations, flu and Covid vaccinations, other NHS services, and the collection of pre-ordered medication during this time.
Patients who need their NHS number or a list of repeat medications are advised to ask a member of the surgery’s reception or dispensary team.
Anyone with questions about their prescriptions should contact the dispensary team by calling or submitting a request form.
