Sara Byrne remains in touch at the half-way point of the Women’s Indian Open with a second-round 71 leaving her five shots adrift of leader Chiara Tamburlini.

Byrne mixed the good with the not so good, dropping a shot on the second and ending it with a birdie on 17. In between she picked up three more shots but also added a couple of bogeys to her card to lie one-under par.

Of the other Irish competing at the DLF Golf and Country Club, Anna Foster was just the right side of the cut on eight over. She signed for a 76 which unfortunately included a double-bogey six at the 17th.

Áine Donegan won’t be around for the weekend after adding a 75 to her opening 80, which left her at +11.

LEADERBOARD

Swiss player Chiara Tamburlini at six under, and in a far from spectacular round, pushed her advantage at the head of affairs to two shots. Her 71 saw her recover from a bogey on eight to subsequently pick up shots on nine and 10.

Local favourite Pranavi Urs and Argentine Magdalena Simmermacher share second on four under after signing for 70 and 72 respectively.

A shot further back are Sara Kouskova (72), Dorthea Forbrigd (71) and Camille Chevalier (70).
