Coronation Street fans think they ‘know’ who Glenda Shuttleworth’s next love interest will be, but she’ll have to wait months to meet them as they’re not currently on the cobbles.
Those who follow the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, will know that actress Jodie Prenger plays the much-loved character, with her making her debut on the cobbles back in 2022 as George Shuttleworth’s sister.
As viewers saw, Glenda soon got herself a job in the Rovers Return, and last summer, Corrie viewers saw Glenda asked to step up into the role of the beloved pub’s manager until the actual owner, Carla Connor, was able to sell following landlady Jenny Connor’s exit.

She has remained behind the bar following Eva Price’s return and takeover of the boozer, alongside her partner, Ben Driscoll, and his mother, Maggie Driscoll. But one thing that is often spoken about is Glenda’s love life.
Since her arrival in Weatherfield, Glenda hasn’t been lucky in love, with her brief dalliance with Michael Bailey not materialising into anything more. Now, Corrie fans think the recently confirmed return of Owen Armstrong could change things for Glenda when it comes to matters of the heart.
@Laceyjay99 said: “So glad Owen’s back he’s a decent guy and maybe he could get a woman? Glenda or Mary lol or who else is there lol #corrie.” @Raudedauden replied: “Ooo yes Glenda.” @Fake_TV_Chef echoed: “Yes Glenda!” @joan94868 added: “I’m voting Glenda.”
Owen was last seen in Weatherfield in April 2015 when he announced he was leaving, after his relationship with Anna Windass broke down and his business collapsed, thanks in part to Pat Phelan.

He went to Portugal before settling in Scotland, but it’s now been revealed that almost eleven years after leaving Weatherfield, Owen is returning to the cobbles, and he is less than impressed with the actions of Izzy’s former partner, as he finds out Gary is behind bars, having been given an eight-month sentence for helping Sarah Platt cover up Theo Silverton’s murder.
Determined to help Izzy and his grandson Jake, he makes it very clear he blames Gary for his family’s misfortune and announces he is moving back to live with them. But what does Owen’s surprise appearance mean for Gary and the future of his business?
Actor Ian Puleston-Davies is reprising his role and said of his return: “I can’t wait to pick up where I left off ten years ago! It’s brilliant to be back and to get stuck into a cracking storyline. Owen’s back and he’s still angry!”
