Photographers from two camera clubs went into battle.
Deepings Camera Club hosted an image battle against Grantham and District Camera Club, with images judged by independent judge, Mike Bennett.
Both clubs entered 15 prints and 15 digital projected images, covering a wide variety of photographic genres ranging from motorsport to formal portraits, natural history to landscape. Each image was marked out of 20 with the top images scoring 20 on the evening.

The first half of the evening was dedicated to judging the digital images. Mike selected about half to be held back for a second look and then started the process of going through them again, often commenting: “This is a very difficult choice as all the images in tonight’s competition are of a very high standard.”
He finally settled on three images to be award the top score of 20 marks, which were by Pete Atkinson, Paul Bandstevener and Geoffrey Foster.
A short break followed for refreshments where members had a chat about all things photographic.

In the second half of the evening, Mike judged the prints with each being placed on the stand. Mike offered critique on things like composition, points of interest and areas that may need to be lightened of darkened. Finally, after marking some images and holding back others, Mike awarded 20 points to the top three prints on the night, which were all taken by Deepings Camera Club chairman Graham Clegg.
At the end of a very interesting and entertaining evening the scores tallied up to give a final result. Deepings scored 263 for digital projected images and 264 for print, while Grantham scored 252 for digital and 241 for print.
