John Broadhurst said on Facebook: “I was waking back from Signatures to the the Mulberry Conwy and was shocked by the fire at the Golf Club. Initially there was as just one engine with a hose but a few minutes later several other engines arrived.

“It was well alight which is very sad as it was such a lovely bar area overlooking the course and the sea.” He added that he hoped no one had been injured in the fire.

This morning pictures from Aaran Lennox show severe damage to the roof of the clubhouse.

The actions of firefighters seems to have stopped the blaze ripping through the entire building but there is still very significant damage.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service have been asked for comment.

Conwy Golf Club have also been contacted.

Maesdu Golf Club in Llandudno said: “Everyone at Maesdu Golf Club is devastated to hear the terrible news of the fire at Conwy Golf Club overnight.

“As neighbouring clubs, Maesdu and Conwy share a longstanding relationship including hosting the Aberconwy Trophy together.

“A clubhouse is more than just a building, it’s a place where friendships grow, and memories are made and we know how proud of the clubhouse Conwy members were.

“We will be in touch with Conwy Golf Club offering support and assistance over the coming weeks and months.

“Our thoughts are with the staff, members and everyone connected with Conwy Golf Club at this upsetting time.”
