Coronation Street star Sally Carman-Duttine has declared her love for one of her co-stars as she adressed potentially working with them less due to her current storyline.
The actress, who is best known for playing Abi Webster in the ITV soap having joined back in 2017, is currently working on an affiar plot which has seen her Weatherfield alter-ego sleeping with her brother-in-law.
Those who have followed the Weatherfield drama of late had never seen the long-lost little brother of Kevin, Abi’s husband, and Debbie Webster, played by Jonathan Howard, before as he was only ever mentioned by name.
That all changed earlier this year as Carl, the son of Bill and Elaine Webster who was born in Germany where his parents were living at the time, made his first appearance on the cobbles after a minor collision in Frescho’s car park with Abi, who he then didn’t know.
There was instantly a spark between the pair, with Carl asking to take Abi out for a drink. She turned him down and was later shocked to see him arrive at the Bistro, with Kevin and Debbie excited to see their little brother.
But as Carl stayed on the cobbles, he and Abi struggled to stay away from each other and while the latter tried to stay away with her husband Kevin undergoing treatment for cancer, his recent health lie pushed her straight into Carl’s arms.
Kevin has already has his supcions about Abi and Carl’s relationship, which the pair have both denied. So he’s completely unaware of what’s going on behind his back.

In a new interview, Sally was asked about working with Mike Le Vell, who has played Kevin in Corrie for the past 40 years, as it looks like they could be heading for a dramatic split if Abi and Carl’s affair is exposed.
Asked by Inside Soap: “Will it be hard not working with Mike as much going forward?” the soap star replied: “I think I’m still going to be very much in his life, but I’m really going to miss him because we work so well together. I love Mike to bits!”
In the same chat, Sally was also asked whether she thinks Abi and Carl have a future together – and her response was blunt. She said: “No, I think they’re doomed!”
It comes as Sally recently appeared on This Morning and spoke with presenters Emma Willis and Andi Peters as she teased the latest twist.
She joked: “I’m exhausted!” about her year on the soap so far, and when asked if she knew about the storyline in advance, Sally added: “You kind of get dribs and drabs, you can ask but I’d rather not because I don’t know when to stop talking. The less I know the better!”
Reflecting on playing the role of Abi, the actress admitted: “She’s brill because when you’re an actor you want to hit all those spots […] and with Abi everything goes… It’s been amazing, she’s a cracking character and I love her to bits.”
As the ITV show’s soap expert,l Sharon Marshall, asked why Abi is in self-destruct mode after finally landing in a beautiful family, Sally responded: “She’s got the biggest heart in the world, but it’s a very immature heart.
“She follows it all the time… She’s also an addict and there’s that pull now of an adrenaline hit… She knows she shouldn’t, it’s too much for her.”
