The Gathering
First released last year on Channel 4, this mystery thriller is dropping on Netflix this Bank Holiday Monday – and is definitely one to watch out for.
The six-part Merseyside-set series focuses on a “violent attack on a teenage girl during a rave on a tidal islet” and “a group of teens from disparate backgrounds, each of whom could have committed the crime, along with their parents, who give equal cause for suspicion”.
The Gathering stars Fate: The Winx Saga’s Sadie Soverall and This City Is Ours’ Eva Morgan and was called “a watchable, gritty drama” by Irish Examiner.
Available Bank Holiday Monday on Netflix.

Netflix
Hostage
This anticipated new Netflix thriller has just premiered all five of its episodes, and looks set to grip viewers this weekend.
Hostage focuses on a fictional British Prime Minister called Abigail Dalton (played by Suranne Jones) whose husband is kidnapped at the same time that the French President (Julie Delpy) is visiting, the latter of whom also faces blackmail, while both leaders are forced into “unimaginable choices”.
Bridge of Spies’ Matt Charman has created the series, while My Oxford Year’s Corey Mylchreest, Conclave’s Lucian Msamati and The Serpent Queen’s Ashley Thomas also star.
Available now on Netflix.

Channel 4
In Flight
Happy Valley’s Katherine Kelly leads this new Channel 4 thriller, which Digital Spy described as “an arresting watch from start to almost-finish”.
The series follows a flight attendant called Jo Conran, whose teenage son is imprisoned in Bulgaria after being accused of murder. In a desperate situation, Jo is approached by a gang leader who blackmails her – with her son facing fatal consequences if she refuses.
Slow Horses’ Adam Randall and Marcella’s Mike Walden have written this series, which dropped last week.
Available now on Channel 4.

Harlan Coben’s Shelter
Channel 5 recently added this 2023 show, which first debuted on Prime Video and comes from the titular thriller author.
Shelter focuses on a teen grieving his father, only to be approached by a woman who tells him his dad may be alive, and that his disappearance could be connected to someone he and his friends know.
The series holds an impressive 88% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, with The Australian suggesting it was “hard to resist a show as ludicrously twisty and jam-packed with storylines”.
Available now on Channel 5.

Love Is Blind: UK
The Emma and Matt Willis-hosted British spin-off of the hit reality dating show is in the middle of its second season, and we’ve all been hooked by the new couples and storylines in the past few weeks.
In case you’re not caught up, Love Is Blind sees a group of singletons put in pods as they try to form romantic relationships without seeing each other’s faces. They then get engaged before finally facing each other, and the show follows how their relationships pan out before coming to a final decision.
This week saw the second batch of episodes drop, getting us all hyped up ahead of the all-important altar episodes next week. Who will say “I do” (or “I don’t”)?
First eight episodes of season 2 available now on Netflix.
