A new rumor has emerged regarding a potential Avengers and X-Men crossover movie.

Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production. The Marvel Studios movie is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, and arrives in United States theaters in December 2026. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then comes a year later in December 2027.

Both films are part of Phase 6 of the MCU. After that, the X-Men are expected to be formally introduced into the MCU and kickstart a new Mutant Saga.

What is the new rumor about the X-Men and Avengers crossover movie?

According to scooper Alex Perez, one of the X-Men and Avengers crossover movie projects that Marvel is planning to make is Judgment Day. This is just a rumor at this time, as there’s been no official announcement about the matter from the Disney-owned company at this time.

Judgment Day (also known as A.X.E.:Judgment Day, with the A.X.E. standing for Avengers, X-Men, and the Eternals) is a 2022 Marvel Comics event by writer Kieron Gillen and artist Valerio Schiti.

A description of the event reads, “ The X-Men have achieved immortality and mutants have taken their place as the dominant species on the planet. The Eternals have discovered long hidden knowledge about their species, including a devastating truth about mutantkind. The Avengers have come into direct conflict with the Celestials and are currently using a fallen Celestial as their base of operations, slowly unlocking its secrets… When the Eternals brazenly target the mutant nation of Krakoa, the Avengers try desperately to de-escalate a potentially apocalyptic war. But this is no simple conflict. The Eternals’ purpose cannot be denied and mutantkind’s future will not be threatened. And after the opening battles, new players and revelations for both sides will emerge as the inhabitants of the Marvel Universe are JUDGED by the greatest power they’ve ever come into contact with.”

Judgment Day received mixed reviews from fans and critics, with some praising the event’s scale and tone, and others criticizing the storytelling and the ending.
