Noisy Newt Books, located at 4 Market Street in Llandeilo, will officially open to the public later.
It offers a curated selection of Welsh and English titles, with a strong emphasis on celebrating Welsh writing.
Rhiannon Fielder-Hobbs, owner of Noisy Newt Books, said: “Having completed my MA in 2024, it felt like the right time to embark on making a long-term dream happen.
“It is wonderful to be able to open Noisy Newt Books in my local town of Llandeilo, which already boasts so many brilliant independent shops and cafes.
“At Noisy Newt, we aim to stock the very best in Welsh literature in both Welsh and English, and already have some exciting author events on the horizon.
“It is my hope that Noisy Newt Books will be an inclusive, inspiring community space where everyone can find a book (or two) they just cannot put down.”
The bookshop, which recently joined the Booksellers Association, is owned and run by Ms Fielder-Hobbs, a published poet.
She is part of the Literature Wales Representing Wales cohort for 2025–2026.
Her background includes an MA in Creative Writing from UWTSD (2024) and experience in libraries, children’s books, and freelance writing.
Noisy Newt Books offers a thoughtfully selected mix of new and second-hand books, including picture books, poetry, nature writing, and novels.
Customers can also place orders for titles not currently in stock.
The Booksellers Association has welcomed Noisy Newt Books to its membership.
Amy Bradley, interim membership manager at the Booksellers Association, said: “Independent bookshops bring inspiration, connection, and vibrancy to their communities, and Rhiannon’s passion for literature and her strong ties to the local area make Noisy Newt Books a truly exciting new addition.
“We are delighted to welcome Rhiannon and Noisy Newt Books to our membership, and we look forward to seeing the bookshop thrive as part of Llandeilo’s rich independent shopping culture.”
