Reginald ‘Reggie’ Carroll, a US comedian, has been shot and killed in Mississippi.
The 52-year-old comic was from Baltimore and best known for his stand-up routines, which he toured across the country.
It was reported by police that he was shot dead last week in Southhaven on August 20.
The Southhaven Police Department revealed the officers responded to reports of an isolated shooting and located ‘one male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.’
Limited information was revealed due to the case being ongoing, but the police confirmed his identity and that he was shot more than once, as he suffered ‘gunshot wounds’ plural.
‘We can confirm that on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025, the Southaven Police Department responded to the area of Burton Lane in regard to a shooting.

‘The officers and medical personnel provided life-saving techniques, but the individual succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Reginald Carroll (Maryland),’ said a police post on social media.
The statement also confirmed that a suspect was in custody, with the police then paying their respects to the deceased’s family.
‘One male is in custody and has been charged with the murder of Reginald Carroll. Our thoughts our with the family of Mr. Carroll. Thank you to the community for their patience and understanding.’
The comic was known as The Knockout King of Comedy and was a rising star and, touring with fellow comedian Katt Williams a the time of his death.
He had previously appeared in the TV film, Rent & Go, and in The Parkers. Carroll also appeared as himself in Knockout Kings of Comedy and Showtime at the Apollo.
Tributes have begun pouring in for the late artist, with many paying homage to his memory.

‘This man is responsible for pushing me to do Standup Comedy. With life lessons, he has taught me so much on and off the stage. I appreciate everything he has done for me. He will be missed. Rest in peace my brother @comedianreggiecarroll .🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾,’ said Bernard Williams on Instagram.
Megan Sousa posted a lengthy comment about the artist with a line that read: ‘Reggie put me in rooms, stages, and in front of game changers. Over the years, he remained in touch with me and always showed love to my growth and progress. He was a true artist and student of comedy.’
Carroll’s brother, Jonathan Carroll, posted on Facebook: ‘To all who have expressed condolences on the passing of Reggie Carroll, your love has been well received-thank you!!!
