Horses for courses the key at Ripon as the Daily Star’s chief tipster unlocks the door to winners on Tuesday (26 August)RIPON, ENGLAND – AUGUST 31: The Wee Barra ridden by Raul Da Silva, (L) wins the SIS virtual betting channel handicap stakes race at Ripon racecourse on August 31, 2015 in Ripon, England. The choice is made – and it’s Mark’s Choice (3.35, trb) in the Ripon Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse Handicap on Tuesday.

When it comes to horses for courses, the selection is a classic example as he is a six-time course and distance winner. Those victories include this race in 2022, while the latest C&D success came as recently as June.

The doughty nine-year-old trained by Gemma Tutty was just as good when second at Doncaster in July, and although his run of good form came to a halt on the all-weather at Southwell, expect a revival on his return to his happy place.

At Lingfield, go European and back Senor Cortez (4.10, nb) in the Sky Sports Racing Virgin 519 Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap.

This son of Sea The Stars advanced his form when a stylish scorer at Yarmouth at the start of the month.

And the Robert Edddery trainee can defy an 8lb hike, especially as this step up to 2m is a likely plus for the low-mileage four-year-old.

Later on at the Surrey course, Saytarr (7.10, nap) can get off the mark at the ninth time of asking in the attheraces.com/marketmovers Handicap.

While Charlie Fellowes’ runner has yet to get his head in front, his five podium efforts to date suggest the necessary ability is there to score in this kind of company.

The three-year-old has proved equally as capable on turf and all-weather, going down by just a neck at Ffos Las last year and being beaten the same distance when last seen at Kempton a week ago.

He was possibly slightly unlucky to bump into a better-treated rival that day but his narrow defeat shows his current mark of 66 to be competitive.

Galileo Charm (5.10) is the pick for the Download The At The Races App EBF Restricted Maiden Fillies’ Stakes. Marco Botti’s juvenile made an encouraging start to her career when second on debut at Kempton earlier in the month.

Related to the useful One Nation, Galileo Charm raced a bit keenly at the first attempt and while she was in front at one point, she was caught by Miss Pretty who proved a length too good.

A repeat of that form could be good enough to take the spoil here.
