One concerned person involved with the Dorset Cricket League who did not wish to be named said he will not to allow his team to play at the Slades Farm cricket ground after his team were not supplied adequate changing facilities.
He said: “I refuse to play there.
“It’s more they [Dorset Cricket League and BCP Council] are not doing anything about it.
“Something need to be done.”
The changing rooms in Slades Farm have been closed since a “large” fire caused significant damage to the building on Friday, May 9.
Since then, cricketers of all ages have either been forced to squeeze into the nearby café to change in the toilets or change in view of the public on the park green.
“It’s not practical,” said the concerned resident.
“There’s a café with people in there and you’re walking through with all your kit.”
He added he was speaking on behalf of multiple other teams which were also concerned.
As well as the lack of a space to change, the man said there was no shelter and players were “nearly passing out” as there was nowhere for them to sit.
“It’s just about the safety of the kids,” he said.
“They need to be putting some porter cabins out there with shade, a place to change like a safe space.”
A BCP Council spokesperson said: “The fire at the start of the cricket season caused extensive damage to the changing room building.
“Since then, we have worked closely alongside Active Dorset who operate the community café and co-ordinate fixtures on the cricket pitch, to make sure sport can continue at Slades Farm this summer.
“To ensure the safety of players, the home club have been asked to ensure their members and visiting sides arrive at the ground changed and ready for play.”
Dorset Cricket League have been approached for comment.
