The Super League refereeing appointments for Round 24 have been confirmed, and there are some huge matchups this week that will all play a part in deciding the final standings for the playoffs. The weekend also sees the return of a former top-flight referee who has officiated over 200 career games.
Leigh Leopards host Castleford Tigers to kick off the round. The Leopards had a first half to forget against Salford last week but made up for it in the second half, as five tries in the final 20 minutes saw off any hope the Red Devils had of a victory. In the middle for this one is Liam Moore with Tom Grant on video referee duties.
Friday night sees the Red Devils travel to a struggling Warrington side. A defeat to Huddersfield on Sunday all but confirmed their season as over, as Sam Burgess’ men will now look ahead and start working towards 2026. Scott Mikalauskas will take the whistle at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, with Liam Rush as video ref support. It will be Mikalauskas’ first Super League fixture since September 2021, which coincidentally was also a matchup between Warrington and Salford. The 35-year-old stepped down on a full-time role in 2022 to focus on other commitments but has still overseen many fixtures in the lower leagues since then.
Hull KR also host St Helens on Friday, in a highly-anticipated top four clash. Saints are on a four-match winning run and will look to claim their first victory over the Robins since August 2023. In charge here will be Chris Kendall and Jack Smith.
Saturday sees a triple header of Super League action. First, Leeds Rhinos travel to Hull FC as they look to try and close the gap between themselves and Wigan in second. Aaron Moore will take control of this game, with Kendall acting as video referee.
Wakefield Trinity then host Huddersfield Giants in the evening kick off, as Daryl Powell’s men look to match, or better, Hull FC’s result in a bid to keep their playoff hopes alive. Jack Smith will have the whistle in this one, with Marcus Griffiths as video referee.
On Saturday night, Catalans Dragons host Wigan Warriors in Perpignan, in what is the final fixture of the round. A strong win over Castleford will give the Dragons some confidence, but they will have to put in their best performance of the year to beat the reigning champions. The duties from Thursday night are switched, with Tom Grant the man in the middle, and Liam Moore as video referee.
