QUERCUS (3.15) can continue his love affair with Catterick on Wednesday.
Six of the eight-year-old’s seven victories have come at the North Yorkshire track.
And he was within a whisker of scoring again three weeks ago when he was edged out by Dream Deal.
That rival reopposes again in the Remembering Frank Hugill Handicap and will aim to prevent Quercus getting an easy lead.
But Oisin McSweeney has the perfect berth in stall two to jump Quercus out and blaze a trail.
He handles Catterick’s sharp bend so well and I take him to exact his revenge on 2lb better terms.
BRAZEN RASCAL (4.45) went into the tracker when staying on well in a class 6 handicap at Redcar.
He is a 14-race maiden but has shown enough to suggest he could win a low grade contest or two and Jason Hart is a positive booking in the last at Catterick.
ROYAL DEESIDE (7.15, nap) was a very fluent winner on his chasing debut at Hexham in May and was going well over the course and distance again in June when slipping up.
He is back at the Northumberland track and with better luck he is napped to regain the winning thread under Harry Reed.
DICKENS (5.45) has made the most of a gift of a handicap rating to win twice for Jennie Candlish, at Hexham and Cartmel.
The assessor has put him up 9lb but there is enough juice in the mark for him to notch a hat-trick under Sean Quinlan.
STAND STRONG (4.00, trb) finally got off the mark at the 14th attempt at Newcastle earlier this month.
The step up to two miles may have made the difference as he stayed on strongly to score.
He has risen 5lb in the weights but is still 20lb below where he was 12 months ago and the 2m2f trip of the Portobello Cup Handicap at Musselburgh could spark more improvement in Ewan Whilans’ five-year-old.
THUNDERSTORM KATIE (5.05) looks another potential money spinner for Jim Goldie, winning three of her last four starts.
Paul Mulrennan steered her to victory five days ago at Hamilton and gets the leg-up again at Musselburgh.
He will probably ride her for luck again but the filly is a real battler.
SUPREME CLARETS (2.30) is another tracker horse who has finished both his races off well without looking like winning.
The restricted maiden that opens the Musselburgh card gives him a great chance to get his head in front and the son of Supremacy should relish the seven furlongs,
HAAZEEZ (8.07) will be tough to beat at Kempton now he has got his head in front and he looks better than a 78-rated beast, while LADY MANZOR (7.07) has winning form at the Sunbury track and remains on a winnable mark.
