Meghan Markle has shared further glimpses of her home life as she unveiled season two of her Netflix cooking and lifestyle show today.

‘With Love, Meghan’ landed on Netflix at 8am after the Duchess of Sussex teased the trailer two weeks ago on her Instagram page.

Guests on season two will include Chrissy Teigan and Jamie Kern Lima and the former senior royal is seen eating cheese, prepping snacks and drinks with friends and even reveals the food her husband Prince Harry doesn’t like.

This comes as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a new ‘multi-year, first look deal for film and television projects’ with Netflix – a downgrade on their previous contract.

The new arrangement is a first-look deal, meaning Netflix can say yes or no to new film or TV projects before anyone else.

Liz Jones says Meghan’s show is ‘televisual Valium’

Liz Jones described season two of Meghan Markle’s cooking show as ‘televisual Valium’.

The You Magazine columnist likened the Duchess of Sussex to ‘Demi Moore making pottery’ as she reviewed season two of With Love, Meghan.

She wrote: ‘Of course, most critics will rip this show to shreds, proclaiming, ‘I couldn’t make it past lavender towels!’ – surprisingly, an early take from Forbes magazine was: ‘More commanding and confident… great depth and warmth’ – but for me it’s televisual Valium, as soothing as warm chai sipped on a windswept beach.

‘It is all staged and fake, of course – it’s again filmed in a hired house near her home in Montecito – but then, so is Nigella.

‘What I love about Meghan – aside from the fact she makes a pressed forget-me-not necklace for Guy, her beagle (RIP) – is she seems genuinely earnest: it really is not an act.’

‘So painfully contrived that it’s genuinely fascinating’: Guardian gives new season of Meghan’s show two stars

The Guardian has given the new season With Love, Meghan two stars and says it is ‘so painfully contrived that it’s genuinely fascinating’.

Guardian TV critic Lucy Mangan says Netflix is ‘clearly gambling’ and admits that she warmed to Chrissy Teigen, calling her the ‘high point’ of the show.

She wrote: [Meghan is] still sprinkling flowers over everything, by the way. I don’t know if it’s a choice or a compulsion, but if you stand still long enough in (not) Meghan’s kitchen, the chances are you will be covered in violets and served alongside a mug of grey foam to a nano-celebrity who is beginning to realise he has not been paid enough.

Mangan added: ‘It’s so boring, so contrived, so effortfully whimsical that, do you know what? In the end, it does become almost fascinating.’

She gave season two of With Love, Meghan two stars out of five.

Meghan Markle has divided opinion with season two of her cooking show, With Love, Meghan.

Netflix posted a promotional clip on X, formerly Twitter, yesterday of the Duchess of Sussex speaking about her flower sprinkles with Tan France and it got more than 350 comments.

One wrote: ‘What a lot of nonsense,’

Another said: ‘Watching With Love, Meghan feels less like discovering something new and more like watching someone else stumble through the “first time” of recipes and crafts right alongside you. It comes across as a mediocre, scripted Pinterest mashup rather than an authentic lifestyle series.’

A third penned: ‘Same old, same old.’

However, others enjoyed watching the show. One wrote: ‘Just watched episode 1, love the group dynamic, Meghan Sussex is in her element.’

Another said: ‘So happy we’re getting series 2 and a Christmas special.’

A third penned: ‘Enjoyed the first season. It made me interested in gardening.’

A fourth commented: ‘Ready to watch Meghan today.’

Meghan Markle appears to take another swipe at the royal family

Meghan Markle appeared to take another swipe at the Royal Family while promoting the second season of her Netflix show.

The Duchess appeared on Bloomberg’s The Circuit in conversation with Emily Chang, discussing everything from life beyond the royal family to her business ventures.

In the episode, which was titled ‘How The Duchess of Sussex Became Meghan Inc’, Emily asked Meghan if there is an ‘inherent tension’ between ‘trying to be relatable’ while also being a Duchess.

Meghan clarified that she is ‘just being herself’ – before she seemed to take a dig at her former life in the royal fold by saying she couldn’t be ‘as vocal’ several years ago as she is now.

‘It was different several years ago where I couldn’t be as vocal and I had to wear nude pantyhose all the time!’ the Duchess said, adding that it ‘felt a little bit inauthentic’.

But when Emily quizzed Meghan about her current political stance later on in the episode, the Duchess appeared to dodge the question – and admitted she hadn’t spoken about it since 2016, before she met Prince Harry.

Hilary Rose has many thoughts after watching the first episode of the new season and wrote: ‘It’s not often that I don’t know where to start, so let’s start with a question. “Are you comfortable,” Meghan says to her make-up artist, “cutting onions?” And with that we are off into season two of With Love, Meghan, a series in search of a meaning, fronted by a woman in need of some cash.’

Rose continued and said: ‘Episode one is a glimpse into the future of what the next seven episodes might bring. Start therapy now.’

A Telegraph editor has criticised season two of Meghan Markle’s Netflix cooking show.

How about relaxing by binding your own books or making a pressed flower pendant for your dog? Yes, the Duchess of Sussex, hostess with the mostest, is back with a second highly relatable series of With Love, Meghan. It’s more of the same.’

She also noted that Prince Harry is ‘nowhere to be seen’ in the latest season of With Love, Meghan.

During the eight-part series, which launched on Netflix, the Duchess of Sussex is seen baking several times.

She prepares sourdough for her friend Chrissy Teigan and is seen making homemade McDonald’s apple pies with Tan France.

But she admits to chef Christina Tosi as they make graham crackers for S’mores: ‘Usually, I don’t like baking because it’s so measured.’

Meghan’s As Ever range launched in March, however, includes ready-made shortbread cookies and crepe mixes with pre-measured amounts.

Meghan spoke about the braised lamb meal Smyth whipped up for them during their 2018 nuptials.

She said: ‘Remember we had the map where everything was sourced? We really wanted people to appreciate where every ingredient was coming from. I mean that was the most delicious meal. Everyone still talks about it.’

Smyth also created a special recipe for fried chicken for the after-party.

She told Meghan: ‘We still do it for only an off-menu item.’

‘Oh my gosh. I love that we have created something off menu,’ Meghan tells her.

Meghan Markle opens up to Chrissy Teigan about her time on Deal or No Deal

The Duchess of Sussex opened up about her time on Deal or No Deal on the second season of With Love, Meghan.

Before her breakout role on Suits, Meghan briefly appeared on Deal or No Deal alongside Chrissy Teigan in 2006.

‘I was thinking about how many moons ago we crossed paths and that was past life, that was good old Deal or No Deal,’ the Duchess of Sussex told Chrissy as they made pressed flower jewellery in her ‘Craft Barn’.

They exchanged memories from their time on the show, as Meghan said: ‘I remember us all having to stand in line to get our lashes put in.’

Chrissy then jumped in to add how all the models had to deposit their lashes ‘in a Ziploc bag’ after the shoot was over.

Meghan said she just ‘so happy to have health insurance’ after landing the gig.

Chrissy, the wife of singer John Legend, recalled being a ‘backup girl’ on the show while Meghan routinely appeared as a briefcase model – before the Duchess recalled how Chrissy ‘got famous’ shortly after.

‘I mean, I left the show, and then like a year or so later, you got famous,’ she told Chrissy. ‘I was like, “Oh my god, she’s on the cover of Sports Illustrated, she was just sitting back there on the little chair, waiting…”‘.

The mother-of-four replied: ‘Not competitive at all, literally was fascinated by all of you and just so happy to be in the world of Hollywood.’

Meghan also recalled getting nervous auditioning as a young actress. ‘I’d always get blotches on the chest. So then I started auditioning in turtle necks only. I was, like, nothing to see here.’

Meg’s trendy breakfast! Duchess reveals the meal that her family loves to eat

Meghan Markle has revealed the very trendy breakfast that she loves to tuck into with her husband and their children.

During the second season of the show, the Duchess of Sussex revealed some interesting tidbits about her family, including what she, Prince Harry and their two kids Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, enjoy eating first thing in the morning.

According to Meghan, she cooks breakfast for both children most days, fried eggs and pancakes.

‘But I like to do surprise pancakes for the kids,’ she revealed during one episode.

‘So I always put some ground flax seeds or some chia seeds in and Lili will ask, “can I have my chia seeds? I want to have freckles”.’

Duchess of Sussex reveals what she MISSES about living in the UK

Meghan Markle appeared nostalgic as she revealed what she misses about living in the UK.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the UK and their roles as senior royals in 2020 for a new life in sunny Montecito.

The former actress has not set foot in the UK since September 2022, when the couple were on a charity visit and the Queen died.

She told Tan France, who was born in Doncaster: ‘One of the things I miss most about the UK is the radio stations.’ Magic FM was her favourite of them.

Teased that it is a ‘grandma’ station, she says that her new favourite station to listen to in the car is called ‘Mom Jeans’ and plays vintage soft rock.

Meghan Markle reveals who said ‘I love you’ first

Eagerly recalling their love story on the new season, Meghan revealed that it was indeed Harry who uttered the three special words – ‘I love you’ – first, shortly after they began dating in 2016.

As for Meghan herself, she confessed she knew Harry was a keeper on just their third date – a week-long safari trip to Botswana.

In the third episode, Queer Eye presenter Tan France asked her if there was a specific moment she knew the relationship was ‘the real thing’.

Meghan said: ‘Yes, that was on our third date. We met in Botswana and we camped for five days together.

‘You really get to know each other when you’re in a little tent together and it’s like – what is that outside the tent?’

France then asked who said the ‘L word’ first – and the Duchess once more reminisced about their early days together.

‘He told me,’ Meghan confessed. And when France noted, ‘You’re starting to blush,’ Meghan joked: ‘She’s still got it.’
