Crystal Palace are reportedly planning to step up their interest in a Liverpool player, regarded as potential replacement for Eberechi Eze, ahead of next Monday’s transfer deadline.

Crystal Palace are reportedly planning to step up their interest in Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott ahead of next Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Eagles have experienced a quiet summer transfer window in terms of incomings thus far, as left-back Borna Sosa and goalkeeper Walter Benitez represent the club’s only two new signings.

However, Palace are expected to be active in the remaining days of the window after receiving a reported £67.5m from the sale of star man Eberechi Eze to Arsenal.

Attacking reinforcements are high on the agenda for Oliver Glasner’s side, who are believed to be closing in on a £25.9m deal to sign Yeremy Pino from Villarreal.

A host of other attackers have recently been linked with a switch to Selhurst Park including Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss, but a move for the Morocco international allegedly collapsed earlier this week.

Palace among clubs keeping tabs on Liverpool’s Elliott

One name who could be heading to Palace is versatile Liverpool midfielder Elliott, according to former Premier League scout Mick Brown, who claims that the Eagles are preparing to approach Liverpool about the 22-year-old’s situation.

Elliott has been strongly linked with a move abroad to Bundesliga club RB Leipzig this month, but a deal is yet to be agreed and Brown claims that number of Premier League teams, including Palace, are keeping a close eye on the progress.

Brown, formerly a chief scout at Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers who remains well-connected within the game, has said that Elliott would be open to a move to Palace, who have been working behind the scenes to recruit a replacement for Eze.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown said: “It will be very difficult for Palace to replace Eze. He was such a key figure in the squad and in the way they played.

“But it’s something they’ve already started working on, and there are a few players they’re looking at who could potentially come in and replace him.

“Harvey Elliott is one who I hear they could be ready to make a move for. He would be a good player for a number of clubs, and there are a few in the Premier League who are still keeping an eye on his situation.

Palace set to hold talks with Liverpool over Elliott deal

“I think he would fit in well with the way Palace play, in that position where he’s not quite a winger and not quite a number ten, he can drift around. I’m surprised he hasn’t found a destination yet, Elliott, because there’s been no shortage of interest.

“I expected him to move somewhere like a Palace, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and yes it might still happen, but it’s late in the window now.

“So I think Palace, in their attempts to replace Eze, will be looking at Elliott as an option and I expect they’ll speak to Liverpool to see what it might take.”

Since bursting onto the scene as a 15-year-old at Fulham before moving to Anfield in 2019, Elliott has played 149 times for Liverpool’s first team across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and registering 20 assists.

He has won six trophies with the Reds, including two EFL Cups and his first Premier League title last season, but the youngster started only two of his 18 top-flight appearances in the 2024-25 campaign and had to settle for a peripheral role in Arne Slot‘s squad.

Now seeking regular game time at club level, Elliott was named Player of the Tournament after helping England triumph at the European Under-21 Championship earlier this summer, scoring five goals in six games.
