Netflix<\/a> has unveiled the release date for the upcoming British drama Goodbye June, along with some first-look images. <\/p>\n

The film<\/a>, which marks Kate Winslet’s feature directorial debut, will land in select UK cinemas on 12 December, followed by its streaming release on Netflix<\/a> on 24 December. <\/p>\n

With an all-star cast including Timothy Spall, Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Helen Mirren, Stephen Merchant and Winslet herself, the Christmas-set drama follows the trials of a dysfunctional family in the UK. <\/p>\n

The film was written by Winslet’s son Joe Anders, with the pair recently working together on projects such as I Am Ruth and Lee. <\/p>\n

The Oscar-winning actor is also producing the film, following her first experience in the role with Lee. Last year, Winslet opened up to Digital Spy<\/a> about this “completely different job”. <\/p>\n

“An executive producer is often a person who might find the project in the first place and hand it on to somebody else. It might be somebody who comes on as a part financier. It might be somebody who lends production office space,” she explained. <\/p>\n

“It can have any kind of form, that role. But being a producer,” Winslet continued, “is a person who sees it right from the beginning, the nuts and bolts, the details, the cash flow, the crew, the locations\u2026 <\/p>\n

“Everything right to the end of delivering the film. So that is a completely different job, and that is what I did on Lee for the first time in my life.” <\/p>\n

Goodbye June will release in select UK cinemas on 12 December, and on Netflix on 24 December. <\/p>\n
