{"id":101736,"date":"2025-08-29T21:38:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-29T21:38:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/101736\/"},"modified":"2025-08-29T21:38:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T21:38:08","slug":"canadian-isabella-holmgren-claims-tour-de-lavenir-femmes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/101736\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian Isabella Holmgren claims Tour de l&#8217;Avenir Femmes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"c610be68-790e-49c1-8a8c-bbe2bf8c0355\">Under-23 Mountain Bike world champion <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/isabella-holmgren\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/isabella-holmgren\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Isabella Holmgren<\/a> (Canada) has further confirmed her immense talent by winning the Tour de l&#8217;Avenir Femmes on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The 20-year-old, who came second in the race in 2024, this year got the better of last year&#8217;s winner <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/marion-bunel\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/marion-bunel\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marion Bunel<\/a> (France), winning three stages, the mountains and youth classifications, and the overall classification.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"c610be68-790e-49c1-8a8c-bbe2bf8c0355-2\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Her adventure began with a victory in the three-kilometre prologue, which she won by 17 seconds over her nearest rival &#8211; a huge margin over such a short distance. After claiming the first leader&#8217;s jersey, Holmgren kept it through to the finish.<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">She added to her advantage on stage 5, a short but extremely mountainous 41.6km stage with three high-altitude ascents, where Holmgren out-sprinted Bunel to win the stage and extend her lead to 45 seconds over the French woman, who had given up 35 seconds to Holmgren in the prologue.<\/p>\n<p>Holmgren then went on to win the 10.3-kilometre closing time trial to La Rosi\u00e8re, putting a further 71 seconds into Bunel to win by 1:56. Seixas had only fractions of a second over Lorenzo Finn (Italy) after the first stage and held onto his lead on stage 1, won by Noah Hobbs (Great Britain), but gave it up on stage 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">The latest race content, interviews, features, reviews and expert buying guides, direct to your inbox!<\/p>\n<p>Elliot Rowe gave Great Britain their second win on stage 2, with the lead passing to Maxime Decomble (France).
