{"id":102260,"date":"2025-08-30T02:55:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-30T02:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/102260\/"},"modified":"2025-08-30T02:55:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-30T02:55:07","slug":"st-illawarra-winger-mikaele-ravalawa-to-join-castleford-tigers-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/102260\/","title":{"rendered":"St Illawarra winger Mikaele Ravalawa to join Castleford Tigers in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Castleford Tigers have signed Fiji winger Mikaele Ravalawa on a three-year deal starting next season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 27-year-old will move to the OneBore Stadium from St George Illawarra, where he has spent the last six years, ahead of the 2026 campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Ravalawa has five caps for his country, the last in 2023, and scored 67 tries in 98 NRL appearances for St George, over six seasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The move means the player will link up again with Ryan Carr, who has been St George assistant coach since 2023 but will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/rugby-league\/articles\/cd0dr4npjxmo\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">take over as head coach <\/a>at Cas next season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Castleford Tigers director of rugby Chris Chester, acting as coach until Carr arrives, said on Thursday that &#8220;a little bit of rot&#8221; had set in to his squad after they were thrashed by Leigh Leopards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I think this signing shows how serious we are as a club to get things right on the field for 2026,&#8221; he <a href=\"https:\/\/castlefordtigers.com\/article\/50\/tigers-sign-mikaele-ravalawa-on-three-year-deal\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said., external<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Mika has a high work rate, great yardage carry and is also a proven try scorer at the highest level.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Castleford Tigers have signed Fiji winger Mikaele Ravalawa on a three-year deal starting next season.
