{"id":10281,"date":"2025-07-20T10:36:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-20T10:36:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/10281\/"},"modified":"2025-07-20T10:36:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-20T10:36:08","slug":"williams-in-the-news-upgrades-optimism-a-deep-dive-and-feeling-the-heat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/10281\/","title":{"rendered":"Williams in the News: Upgrades, Optimism, a Deep Dive and Feeling the Heat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we prepare to head to Spa-Francorchamps for the penultimate race before the summer shutdown, the team has had plenty of media coverage during this two-week break.<\/p>\n<p>From talk of performance gains to long-term ambitions, here\u2019s what\u2019s been said over the past week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe speed is there\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/latest\/article\/sainz-rues-tough-run-of-races-as-he-says-everything-that-could-go-wrong-this.507oiwTK8Ep6k9ofuVRSx3\" class=\"css-1jxf684 r-1ddef8g r-1loqt21\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">F1.com<\/a> during the British Grand Prix weekend, Carlos Sainz struck a positive tone despite recent misfortune, confident that the results will come once a run of clean weekends arrives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe one thing that keeps me smiling is the speed that I have in the car and with the team, and I know we should be finishing every weekend as top of the midfield, except for maybe Barcelona and a few other places.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe speed is there, I feel comfortable in the car, we just don&#8217;t seem to get a break in terms of luck and execution of the weekend [and] reliability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust way too many issues for the car we have, but at some point it&#8217;s going to end and as soon as I get a bit of momentum going I know what we&#8217;re capable of doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Special Edition 2025 Driver Card Assets<\/p>\n<p>Customise your Driver Card with Alex and Carlos&#8217; 2025 helmets and backgrounds<\/p>\n<p>Upgrading<\/p>\n<p>Alex Albon spoke to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/2025\/07\/16\/alex-albon-admits-williams-falling-behind-without-2025-f1-upgrades\/\" class=\"css-1jxf684 r-1ddef8g r-1loqt21\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Motorsport Week<\/a> about the team&#8217;s development direction, explaining how upcoming updates will be key to getting back into the fight at the front of the midfield.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt least these last couple of weekends, we haven\u2019t been the fifth quickest team,\u201d he explained. \u201cWe\u2019re definitely further down than that. [But] We\u2019re doing upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want ones sooner rather than later. It will come on the car. Hopefully when it does, we can get back to where we were before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shop the British Icons Collection:<\/p>\n<p>Victor\u2019s Goal<\/p>\n<p>Williams Driver Academy member Victor Martins shared his ambitions with <a href=\"https:\/\/feederseries.net\/2025\/07\/16\/williams-junior-martins-i-wasnt-surprised-that-another-f1-team-was-going-to-want-me\/\" class=\"css-1jxf684 r-1ddef8g r-1loqt21\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Feeder Series<\/a>, highlighting the importance of his relationship with the team as he targets a future in Formula 1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see any championship other than F2 to bring me closer to F1,\u201d Martins said. \u201cThe goal is still very clear, especially also with Williams. The project we have now together is to help me to achieve this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy racing season, which is F2, is to just show myself \u2013 winning races, doing pole positions and then beside that getting some good support from Williams, being in the simulator, having TPC days, earning some FP1 [sessions] and that\u2019s it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not looking at the past, who else has done the same or who has done different. It\u2019s just sometimes a matter of where you are and when. It\u2019s just about timing and opportunity.
