Pictured, stage 21 of the Tour de France earlier this year in Paris<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">It was found to slash the risk of\u00a0stomach cramps and diarrhoea in ulcerative colitis sufferers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Professor Lindsay Bottoms co-author of the study from the University of Hertfordshire said: &#8216;While cherry juice cannot replace medicine, our findings offer hope that it could be used alongside pharmaceutical treatments to help improve a patient&#8217;s quality of life and reduce symptoms and, possibly, even help in delaying further intensive medical treatment or surgery.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Studies have long shown that tart cherry juice and supplements carry very few side effects too.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Many trials use\u00a030 to 60ml of juice concentrate, adding roughly 100 to 200ml of water to make it a concentrated juice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Litre bottles of the juice are available at the likes of Holland &amp; Barrett, Waitrose and Ocado.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">For cyclists, however, its main benefits lie in its high concentration of carbohydrates, helping riders to\u00a0replenish their glycogen stores fast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Speaking earlier this summer at the Tour de France,\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/efprocycling.com\/tips-recipes\/amacx-cherry-juice-recovery\/\">EF Pro Cycling Head Doctor<\/a> Jon Greenwell, said:\u00a0&#8216;It has become the first step in our recovery strategy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;The riders drink their cherry juice, and then rehydrate with more water.
