{"id":106693,"date":"2025-09-01T10:45:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-01T10:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/106693\/"},"modified":"2025-09-01T10:45:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T10:45:09","slug":"reform-uk-live-tice-plots-to-slash-council-tax-bill-by-350-a-year-politics-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/106693\/","title":{"rendered":"Reform UK LIVE: Tice plots to slash council tax bill by \u00a3350 a year | Politics | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\"><a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" title=\"Reform UK\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/reform-uk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reform UK<\/a> today said it could cut \u00a3350 from annual <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" title=\"Council Tax\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/council-tax\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">council tax<\/a> bills by shaking up local authority pension rules.<\/p>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">The Party&#8217;s deputy leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/richard-tice\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Richard Tice<\/a> plans to \u201cslash council tax bills\u201d by overhauling council-controlled pension funds.<\/p>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">He said &#8220;more is spent on pensions in our 13 councils than is spent on defence&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">Mr Tice told the press conference that money was being poured into climate-related investment funds that were not producing returns, saying: &#8220;This is a meaningful cause of under-performance &#8211; not the only cause but a meaningful one &#8230; we are absolutely determined to stop the rip-off.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">On 1 May 2025, local elections were held in 23 of England\u2019s councils.
