The day after another transfer deadline and Celtic <\/a>fans are gunning for their own board yet again.<\/p>\n

Brendan Rodgers<\/a> could not have been clearer in what he wanted in the last 24 hours of the window, and while a winger was eventually delivered in the shape of Sebatstian Tounekti<\/a> it was too little too late in the fans’ eyes. Whether Rodgers will publicly admit to feeling the same remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

It’s not as if Celtic couldn’t afford to spend. We’ve heard for years now about the massive cash reserves burning a hole in the collective Parkhead pocket and the millions continued to roll in during this window.<\/p>\n

The bank balance has only fuelled the fire as so little of this cash has been reinvested in the team.<\/p>\n

There’s also the curious case of Adam Idah. Rodgers insisted he wouldn’t be sold to Swansea City before a replacement was signed. The Hoops boss then claimed he didn’t know what the switch to the Swans had been held up before it was confirmed around tea time on Monday<\/a>, still with no striker signed to fill the gap.<\/p>\n

This summer is another example seemingly being in a position to kick on, only to bank more fees before late, limited spending of their own.<\/p>\n

This is all despite previous promises from now chairman, then CEO Peter Lawwell<\/a> who 11 years ago fatefully said: \u201cOur commitment as a board has been that every penny that comes into the club will be reinvested back into the club\u201d a comment the board seemingly haven\u2019t lived up to ever since.<\/p>\n

The financial figures from this window make for grim reading in this context as the club have only spent roughly \u00a313 million on player arrivals despite around \u00a332 million reportedly being brought in from player departures.<\/p>\n

How the manager, fans and team will cope with this is yet to be seen but a look at the numbers backs up their arguments over penny pinching.<\/p>\n
