Viktor Gyokeres was left squirming when asked about a viral\u00a0Arsenal<\/a> chant that references claims he dumped his girlfriend before moving to the Emirates.<\/p>\n

The \u00a364million striker, unveiled as Arsenal’s new No 14 this summer, was pressed on the song while on duty with Sweden ahead of World Cup qualifiers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Clips of the chant have gone viral online, with supporters singing it to the tune of Salt-N-Pepa’s Push It and including the line: ‘He dumped his girlfriend, to play in red and white.’<\/p>\n

The lyric makes reference to his reported split from Portuguese actress Ines Aguiar, which was widely covered in the local press earlier this summer.<\/p>\n

‘They have been absolutely incredible,’ Gyokeres, via Swedish outlet Sportbladet, said of Arsenal fans. ‘They have shown me an incredible amount both during and outside of the games. I am extremely grateful for that.’<\/p>\n

But when pressed directly on the song, the 27-year-old paused before replying: ‘I have no comments about the song.’<\/p>\n

The Swedish striker has been a big hit with the Arsenal supporters since completing his move to north London this summer<\/p>\n

Portuguese outlet TV Guia reported in June that Gyokeres ended his relationship with Aguiar before heading on holiday to Mykonos, while she travelled to Formentera.<\/p>\n

According to the same report, he told her he ‘didn’t want anything to tie him to Portugal’ as he pushed for a Premier League move. Neither has spoken publicly, though they continue to follow one another on social media.<\/p>\n

On the pitch, Gyokeres has scored twice since his move from Sporting Lisbon but was shackled by Ibrahima Konate in Arsenal\u2019s 1-0 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Sweden striker barely had a sniff as Dominik Szoboszlai\u2019s late free-kick settled the contest and left the champions top of the table with maximum points.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He will hope to put that disappointment behind him as Sweden take on Slovenia and Kosovo in World Cup qualifying, with John Dahl Tomasson\u2019s men currently top of their group.\u00a0<\/p>\n
