Lennox Lewis<\/a> knows that timing is key for the next steps in Moses Itauma<\/a>\u2018s career as many call for him to fight Oleksandr Usyk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Usyk<\/a> is a generational great who has won it all, from Olympic Gold Medal via undisputed cruiserweight championship and on to now being a two-time undisputed heavyweight ruler.<\/p>\n

In that time, the southpaw has never been legitimately put down in the ring, rarely looked hurt, and has twice beaten all of Anthony Joshua, Daniel Dubois and Tyson Fury. He is, however, coming to the end of his career, and Itauma is waiting in the wings to be the next dominant force.<\/p>\n

The British-Slovenian star has shown great promise in his 13 fights so far, winning 11 by KO, and nine in the first two rounds, including Dillian Whyte in August.<\/a> Post-fight, there has been a lively debate about whether or not he should be challenging Usyk.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Sky Sports Boxing<\/a>, former undisputed ruler Lewis was certain that Itauma should not jump in with the Ukrainian just yet, calling the potential move \u2018way too soon.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cWay too soon. You know, it\u2019s better to wait. Wait until he retires. He\u2019s not going to stay around too long, then take your shot. There\u2019s no use doing it right now.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now you\u2019re learning, you\u2019re learning everything and you have to wait until the right time. You can never be rushed. If you\u2019re rushed, you\u2019re going to do a bad result for your career. It\u2019s better to take your time and take it when it\u2019s there, when you\u2019re ready.\u201d<\/p>\n
