LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln Lutheran Middle\/High School broke ground on Wednesday for its new Warrior Wellness Center, aimed at promoting the physical, mental and spiritual wellness of its students.<\/p>\n
The facility will include an indoor turf, track lane, weight room, two classrooms and several offices, and will provide more programming for physical fitness, strength and conditioning, and mental health support.<\/p>\n
Dan Masters with the Lutheran Education Foundation said the hope is to open by early next year, allowing all students in the 6th to 12 grade school to use the facility, regardless of their athletic participation.<\/p>\n
Masters said the center has been in the works since 2023, and is all part of the school\u2019s Warrior Wellness Initiative.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe should take care of our bodies, be good stewards of our bodies,\u201d he said. \u201cSo physical fitness, fitness for the mind, body and spirit – all of that portrays to a certainly great wellbeing for all our students and something we want all our students to take with them when they leave Lincoln Lutheran.\u201d<\/p>\n The wellness center is expected to cost about $2.1 million, which Masters said is being funded largely through private donations.<\/p>\n So far the school has gathered about 70% of the cost, but is asking anyone interested to consider contributing.<\/p>\n ALSO WATCH: Night Beat with Danielle Shenk<\/p>\n Night Beat: Sen.
