Willie Peters will be relieved to hear that Tom Amone\u2019s injury isn\u2019t quite as bad as first feared. Castleford Tigers director of rugby Chris Chester revealed that news this morning by confirming the Hull KR-bound prop\u2019s injury does not require surgery.<\/p>\n

Amone limped out of the loss to Leigh Leopards last time out with what looked to be a painful lower leg injury and speaking after the game, Chester spoke with confidence that the prop would not feature again in 2025.<\/p>\n

However, the injury will not require surgery and that means his rehabilitation process might not be the long and arduous process many feared it would be when he left the action at Leigh Sports Village.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t look as bad as first feared,\u201d Chester said in his Castleford<\/a> pre-match press conference on Thursday. \u201cWe thought he would require surgery, he\u2019s had a CT scan \u2013 he\u2019s still in a boot \u2013 we thought it was a stress fracture but it\u2019s turned out it\u2019s not.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know the medical word for it but I just know that it\u2019s very uncomfortable at the minute but we know he\u2019ll play no further part in the rest of this season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked if the injury would eat into his pre-season with Hull KR, where Amone has signed a three-year deal from next season, Chester added: \u201cI think he\u2019ll be fine for that.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Hull KR get to the Grand Final it will probably be back end of November when they go in. He\u2019ll go home, he\u2019ll get some time at home, and he\u2019s got a rehab programme that he knows he\u2019s got to do. We\u2019ll spend these next couple of weeks with Tom.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I will say about Tom is that he\u2019s a fantastic guy, he\u2019s been an unbelievable signing for me but he\u2019s been an unbelievable leader for Castleford Tigers as well. Every time he goes on that field he wants to be the best version of Tom Amone and go and hurt people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just disappointed that he doesn\u2019t get the send off that he wanted, I think he really deserved it. He\u2019s given everything for this club in a short space of time. I\u2019ll be sad to see him leave.\u201d<\/p>\n
