The popular belief that a \u20b910,000 monthly SIP will yield \u20b93 crore in 30 years overlooks inflation. \u201c\u20b93 crore today will feel like \u20b975 lakhs then,\u201d she notes. \u201cTo sustain a middle-class lifestyle, you\u2019ll need \u20b915\u201320 crore.\u201d She points out that while mutual funds may have returned ~12% historically, individual investors typically earned just 6\u20138% due to poor timing and hidden costs.<\/p>\n
According to Goel\u2019s \u201creal math,\u201d a person earning \u20b915 lakh per annum would need to save 60\u201370% of their income to retire securely\u2014far beyond the standard 15% financial advisors recommend.<\/p>\n
She contrasts today\u2019s challenges with previous generations, who relied on joint families and lower costs. In contrast, today\u2019s Indians face steep property EMIs, nuclear family setups, and soaring healthcare bills\u2014with little to no fallback.<\/p>\n
