Zwift has announced a whole series of updates and features for the (Northern Hemisphere) autumn, including AI-derived personalised recommendations to develop your fitness, new controllers, and the one that we\u2019re most excited about: the Virtual Brompton World Championship. No, really. We\u2019ll start there\u2026<\/p>\n

Virtual Brompton World Championship<\/p>\n

\u201cTweed is speed,\u201d says Zwift, with the introduction of the Virtual Brompton World Championship race series this autumn. Fair play, that’s a great line. It continues: \u201cThe world\u2019s most dapper race has arrived on Zwift.\u201d<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll probably have heard of the Brompton World Championship<\/a>,\u00a0where competitors run to their folded bikes, unfold them, and then race in\u00a0business clothing (some more business-like than others). Now it\u2019s going online.<\/p>\n

A week-long Virtual Brompton World Championship race series event will be held in Zwift’s London from 17-23 November. Races will be held on custom routes (with short and long options) and you\u2019ll be able to unlock a special Tweed Kit. Wow! You didn\u2019t see that coming, did you? Sadly, there’s no virtual unfolding involved. The Brompton will be available to buy in the DropShop as well.<\/p>\n

More racing<\/p>\n

If racing is your thing, there\u2019s plenty more aside from the Virtual Brompton World Championship, Zwift promising \u201cthe best season of competition to date\u201d, including the Zwift Racing League (starting 16th September), zRacing<\/a>, Zwift Games<\/a>,\u00a0and thousands of community-run race events.<\/p>\n

Zwift says, \u201cHelping make community racing fairer and more competitive, there are numerous improvements coming to the racing scene, beginning this September. Zwift Racing Score is now established as the default racing categorisation system, and the 11 categories now used for Zwift events have made racing even more competitive by keeping the competition more closely matched.\u201d The idea is that whatever your ability, you\u2019ll be competitive in your category.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe latest changes to Zwift Racing Score<\/a>\u00a0have seen \u2018score decay\u2019 introduced for racers who haven\u2019t competed in the last 30 days, updated seed scores based on your most recent personal bests (inside or outside of races), and a new option for event organisers to categorise riders by their 30-day best score, not just their current score,\u201d says Zwift.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese changes ensure your score reflects your current peak fitness, instantly rewards strong performances, keeps matchmaking dynamic, and makes races feel fairer and more competitive for everyone on the start line.<\/p>\n

Anti-bot detection<\/p>\n

Talking about racing, Zwift has also introduced new anti-botting detection that\u2019s intended to keep it fair.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccounts flagged by this technology are moving through our standard enforcement pipeline, helping us clean up racing, protect leaderboard integrity, and stop unfair XP farming,\u201d says Zwift.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe same system is laying the groundwork for a new generation of anti-cheating technology designed to detect and eliminate unrealistic performances and make racing on Zwift even more authentic over time.\u201d<\/p>\n

New Zwift Click Controllers<\/p>\n

Last year, Zwift worked with indoor trainer brands to introduce Zwift Ready<\/a> smart trainers\u00a0pre-installed with Zwift Cog and Click<\/a>\u00a0to provide virtual shifting straight out of the box.<\/p>\n

Now, Zwift Ready trainers will be available from Wahoo, Elite, Van Rysel, JetBlack, and Garmin-Tacx (USA only), with prices from \u00a3279.99. There are also new Zwift Click controllers, which will ship from 9th September.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new Zwift Click controllers unlock the full Zwift experience thanks to integrated navigation and shortcut buttons, similar to those seen on Zwift Ride, and previously Zwift Play controllers,\u201d says Zwift.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new Zwift Click retains the ability for riders to mount the controllers in almost any location and they are compatible with all handlebar types. To ensure it can be placed in almost any location, the new Zwift Click allows you to customise the button configuration to orient your Zwift Click however you like.\u201d<\/p>\n

Personalized Recommendations and Auto-Adjusted Goals<\/p>\n

Zwift is aiming to make it easier to develop your fitness with the introduction of Auto-Adjusted Goals and Personalized Recommendations\u00a0 (we’ll let them have the z in ‘Personalized’ because they’re based in the US and don’t know any better).\u00a0<\/p>\n

It should now be easier to set up connections with outdoor head units from Wahoo, Garmin and Hammerhead. If you do this, you\u2019ll get additional XP (experience points) for your outdoor rides and also be able to track your Fitness Trends in the Zwift Companion and set goals based on your past activities.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll also be able to set your goals to Auto-Adjust. The idea is that Zwift will use the last few weeks of your indoor and outdoor data to adjust your upcoming weekly target goal.<\/p>\n

From November, Zwift will also offer Personalized Recommendations.<\/p>\n

What are they?<\/p>\n

\u201cPowered by AI, Personalized Recommendations will serve content tailored to help each Zwifter hit their goals,\u201d says Zwift \u201cRecommendations served will account for recent training load, based on both indoor and outdoor (when connected) activity, riding preferences, including activity types, and much more, meaning Zwifters can jump in with one click, allowing them to spend more time riding and less time choosing.\u201d<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll be able to choose from a mix of content types, with each recommendation taking your recent ride history and personal goals into account.<\/p>\n

If you have connections with external coaching apps, like TrainerRoad<\/a>,\u00a0these will take preference on the home screen. You\u2019ll still have the option of tuning these activities.<\/p>\n

New riding<\/p>\n

A new Zwift Tour called Zwift Unlocked runs from 6 October until 16 November, replacing the Tour of Watopia.<\/p>\n

Zwift says, \u201cLike its predecessor, Zwift Unlocked offers double XP but brings with it 10 entirely new routes across multiple Zwift Worlds. Zwifters will have the ability to ride or race each stage, with long and short options on offer throughout.\u201d<\/p>\n

An expanded New York map will host the final two stages of Zwift Unlocked. This expansion will be Zwift\u2019s largest map expansion in years, adding 31km of new roads, including 20 new routes (16 bike and four run).<\/p>\n

Power segments<\/p>\n

A new segment feature, Power Segments, will launch in October with this New York expansion.<\/p>\n

Zwift says, \u201cPower Segments are a new take on Zwift\u2019s timed Sprint Segments, where pure wattage is all that matters. Hit the start arch and hammer until the timer hits zero to try and average the highest watts possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is designed mostly as a personal challenge, so when you finish your Power Segment you\u2019ll be given your result and be able to see how it compares with your other efforts over the previous 90 days, plus your rank in the global community.<\/p>\n

Power Segments will roll out to other Zwift Worlds over time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
