Some of the biggest names in rock music<\/a> are set to unite for a one-off performance, paying tribute to Ozzy Osbourne<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Black Sabbath frontman died in July<\/a> at the age of 76, with his cause of death reportedly listed as \u2018myocardial infarction<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

It has now been revealed that Aerosmith stars Steven Tyler and Joe Perry will be leading a powerhouse performance at the VMAs on Sunday in his honor.<\/p>\n

MTV bosses announced they will be taking to the stage at the UBS Arena alongside Yungblud<\/a> and Nuno Bettencourt to celebrate the Prince of Darkness, belting out a medley of his greatest hits<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Little else is known about the tribute, which will take place during the annual awards ceremony over the weekend \u2013 airing on CBS and MTV in the US<\/a>, and Comedy Central in the UK the following evening.<\/p>\n

Lady Gaga<\/a>, Sabrina Carpenter<\/a>, Mariah Carey<\/a> and Tate McRae are some of the other stars who will be performing throughout the night, with LL Cool J hosting proceedings.<\/p>\n

The music industry was plunged into mourning in July after Osbourne died, weeks after his final performance at the Back to the Beginning concert.<\/p>\n

Aerosmith members were among the many who flooded social media to offer their condolences<\/a> to the music icon.<\/p>\n

\u2018We\u2019re heartbroken to hear about the passing of our brother in rock, Ozzy Osbourne,\u2019 a message from the group\u2019s official Instagram account read.<\/p>\n

\u2018A voice that changed music forever. From Black Sabbath to his solo work, Ozzy redefined what it meant to be heavy.<\/p>\n

\u2018Our love goes out to Sharon, his family, his band, and the millions around the world who felt his fire,\u2019 they added. <\/p>\n

\u2018Rock on, Ozzy. You will be missed, but never forgotten!\u2019<\/p>\n

Yungblud also formed a close friendship<\/a> with the late rocker in the years before his death, and posted a heartfelt message about his loss on social media.<\/p>\n

\u2018I didn\u2019t think you would leave so soon the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room,\u2019 he wrote, beside pictures of the pair at the Back to the Beginning gig.<\/p>\n

He concluded: \u2018You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough.<\/p>\n

\u2018You took us on your adventure \u2013 an adventure that started it all. I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time.\u2019<\/p>\n

The MTV VMAs takes place on Sunday at the UBS Arena, and will air on CBS and MTV before premiering on Monday at 8pm on Comedy Central in the UK.<\/p>\n
