The centre was forced to go under the knife and he has spent the weeks and months since going through an arduous rehabilitation process.

As such, he sat out of the club’s Challenge Cup final win back in June and it seems there’s a chance that he could be absent when KR eventually secure the League Leaders’ Shield, which seems a formality at this point. However, the centre is now on the verge of a return and he’ll surely be determined to have a say on KR’s play-off campaign with the Robins chasing Grand Final revenge.

Giving an update on his fitness, Peters confirmed that Gildart should be ready to make his return to the fold either next week or on the final week of the regular season.

Hull KR boss on Oliver Gildart

“He’s good,” Peters said when asked about the centre. “We’ll know later on in the week where he’s at, he’ll step up that return to play process at the back end of this week and then we’ll see where he’s at for the week after.

“He’ll be back hopefully over the next two weeks, if not next week, it’ll be the week after.”

Peters has made just one change to his KR squad to take on Hull FC this weekend, with Rhyse Martin dropping out as he serves the first of a two-match suspension following his high tackle on Morgan Knowles last time out.

“It is what it is,” Peters said on the ban. “We’ve had it now, they’ve made the decision and I don’t usually talk about them afterwards so I’ll leave that one be.

“He got 10 minutes in the game. I knew he’s get something and rightfully so because it was a high tackle so unfortunately for us, Rhyse isn’t playing for the next two weeks.”

The head coach also received the news this week that the injury 2026 recruit Tom Amone picked up last week while representing Castleford Tigers was not as bad as first feared, with Chris Chester believing Amone could be ready in time to start pre-season training with the Robins.

“Yeah, he’s not going to have an operation now but it could still be the same timeline from my understanding,” Peters added.

“It’s one of those where it depends how quickly it heals. He doesn’t have to have an operation but the healing process, when I got the phone call, I was excited at the start but then I heard it could potentially be the same outcome in terms of recovery. I need to have a look at that and just see where it’s at.”

[35
5903,101,56,54,55
0":"post-117726","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-rugby","8":"tag-rugby","9":"tag-sports","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom","12":"tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
