However, cyber criminals can sometimes find flaws in the system that leave users vulnerable to attack.<\/p>\n<p>The current flaws had been given the dreaded \u2018zero-day\u2019 rating, meaning hackers had already found the vulnerabilities and were actively exploiting them \u2013 and that Android users had no time to waste, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/life-style\/science-technology\/2104181\/Android-warning-zero-day-bug\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/life-style\/science-technology\/2104181\/Android-warning-zero-day-bug\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Express<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Millions of people are now being urged to update their <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/smartphones\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">phones<\/a>\u2019 operating system (OS) immediately to remain protected from cyber crooks.<\/p>\n<p>What has Google said about the Android attacks?<\/p>\n<p>Google has urged its users to stay on the lookout for the latest version of its operating system and to download it immediately to fix the serious bugs.<\/p>\n<p>The company said update it part of Android\u2019s standard monthly updates which works to keep Android users safe and protect their devices.<\/p>\n<p>Google told Metro: \u2018As a best security practice, we always recommended users ensure they have installed the latest software updates available for their device.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Google\u2019s own-brand Pixel phones should receive the update almost immediately, while other devices such as those made by <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/samsung\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Samsung<\/a> may take a longer to receive the changes.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SEI_220012738-c4c4.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-24094215\" alt=\"A close up photo of a mobile phone with the word 'Google' repeated on the screen.\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tHackers are currently exploiting Android devices (Picture: Anadolu)<br \/>\nWhat do Android users need to do?<\/p>\n<p>Android users should look to update their operating system immediately to fix the flaws and stop hackers from being able to compromise their device.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, users can go to their Setting app, open the System tab and click Software updates. Users can then follow on-screen instructions.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Boynton, senior security manager at software firm Jamf, said it was \u2018crucial\u2019 that Android users act fast.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Despite being only targeted attacks, with these vulnerabilities being under active exploitation, we strongly recommend that all users update their OS immediately,\u2019 he told the Express.<\/p>\n<p>Some older Android devices cannot run newer Android OS updates.
