{"id":120170,"date":"2025-09-07T05:40:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-07T05:40:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/120170\/"},"modified":"2025-09-07T05:40:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T05:40:10","slug":"upi-new-rules-from-september-15-higher-transaction-limits-for-select-high-value-payments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/120170\/","title":{"rendered":"UPI new rules from September 15: Higher transaction limits for select high-value payments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has raised Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transaction limits for select categories of digital payments, easing high-value transactions for users and merchants.<br \/>\nThe revised limits take effect from September 15, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Under the new framework, users can transact up to \u20b910 lakh in 24 hours for specific verified merchant categories.<\/p>\n<p>The enhanced limits apply only to Person-to-Merchant (P2M) payments, while Person-to-Person (P2P) limits remain unchanged at \u20b91 lakh per day. Member banks retain the flexibility to set lower limits based on their risk policies.<\/p>\n<p>Key changes in UPI limits<\/p>\n<p>\nFor capital market investments and insurance payments, the limit has been raised from \u20b92 lakh to \u20b95 lakh per transaction, with a maximum of \u20b910 lakh allowed in 24 hours. Similarly, government e-marketplace transactions including earnest money deposits and tax payments can now go up to \u20b95 lakh per transaction, against the earlier \u20b91 lakh cap.<\/p>\n<p>In the travel sector, the transaction ceiling has increased from \u20b91 lakh to \u20b95 lakh, with a daily cap of \u20b910 lakh. Credit card bill payments can now be made up to \u20b95 lakh in one go, though the daily cap is restricted to \u20b96 lakh.<\/p>\n<p>For loan and EMI collections, the limit is now \u20b95 lakh per transaction and \u20b910 lakh per day, while jewellery purchases see a modest increase from \u20b91 lakh to \u20b92 lakh per transaction and a daily cap of \u20b96 lakh.<\/p>\n<p>In banking services, term deposits through digital onboarding are now allowed up to \u20b95 lakh per transaction and per day, compared to the previous \u20b92 lakh.<\/p>\n<p>Digital account opening remains unchanged at \u20b92 lakh. In addition, foreign exchange retail payments via BBPS have been enhanced to \u20b95 lakh per transaction, with a \u20b95 lakh daily cap.<\/p>\n<p>Why the higher UPI limits matter<\/p>\n<p>The changes will help users:<br \/>&#13;\n<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n \tAvoid splitting large payments into multiple transactions.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n \tPay insurance premiums, loan EMIs, or investments seamlessly through UPI.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n \tExperience real-time settlements with fewer disruptions.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n<br \/>\nAkash Sinha, CEO and Founder of Cashfree Payments, said, \u201cRaising UPI limits to \u20b95 lakh per transaction and \u20b910 lakh per day is a timely move that solves a very real problem for merchants handling high-value payments.
