Portable workstation using Tecno\u2019s concept trifold smartphone<\/p>\n

TECNO unveils PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold Concept, a trifold smartphone<\/a> that doubles as a mini laptop or workstation. Users can half-open the device until the first screen \u2013 the lower one \u2013 is on the surface or table and the other two screens become the \u2018monitor.\u2019 The setup, then, allows for multitasking, especially when the users need to open multiple tabs or apps. What allows for TECNO\u2019s concept trifold smartphone to work as a mini laptop is its folding system, which comprises two hinges.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The first small hinge lets the right side of the screen fold inwards, like how a book closes. This fold is very tight, so there is no gap between the parts. Then, the second, bigger hinge folds the last part of the screen over the top of the first fold. So, the whole screen is safely folded inside, and nothing is left open or sticking out. There\u2019s also a self-locking system in place to make sure the phone stays closed tightly and doesn\u2019t open by accident as well as to keep the folds clean and smooth, without any space or looseness.<\/p>\n

Dubbed the thinnest device of its kind so far<\/p>\n

Even though the TECNO PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold Concept has a triple-folding design, the brand<\/a> says it is still very thin. When folded, the phone is only 11.49mm thick, which is similar to many regular foldable phones with just two parts. When users unfold it completely, it gets even thinner at just 3.49mm, which makes it the dubbed thinnest concept trifold smartphone so far. The hinge is made from steel, and the back cover uses a special material called Titan Fiber, which is robust and only 0.3mm thick. Even if the device is this slim, it still includes a \u2018fast\u2019 processor, a triple camera, and a large battery with over 5000 mAh, which can give long usage time.<\/p>\n

While the device is still not real, TECNO\u2019s concept trifold smartphone comes with two small cameras built into the large hinge, which let the phone stay open at different angles. When users open the phone completely, the two hinges help it become a large screen at 9.94 inches wide. The brand believes that the display has almost no visible crease. When folded, the device can still fit in the pocket. At the time of publishing, TECNO plans to show the concept trifold smartphone at MWC 2026, which runs between March 2nd and 5th in Barcelona, Spain.\u00a0<\/p>\n
