A man is believed to have died after he was hit by a vehicle on the M60. The motorway was closed off in both directions<\/a> following the fatal incident near junction 20.<\/p>\n Police, fire crews and paramedics raced to the scene and recovered the body of a man following a “welfare incident”. Traffic built up in the area<\/a>, with a large closure put in place between junctions 19 and 21.<\/p>\n National Highways issued delay warnings to those heading to the final Oasis gig at Heaton Park. The MEN<\/a> reported an investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the motorway likely to remain closed throughout Sunday evening<\/a>.<\/p>\n Greater Manchester Police (GMP) also warned of delays as they confirmed they were called to the serious incident. Diversion routes were put in place by National Highways teams for those trapped in the closure.<\/p>\n The Bee Network issued a statement to motorists and Oasis fans, which read: “Due to a serious road traffic collision on the M60 J20. Part of the motorway is currently closed causing significant delays on roads in the area.<\/p>\n “This may impact your journey to Heaton Park for the Oasis<\/a> concert.”<\/p>\n A statement shared by National Highways read: “The M60 in Greater Manchester is closed in both directions, clockwise between J19 Rhodes Interchange (Middleton, Manchester (Cen) A576) and J21 Broadway Interchange (Chadderton A663).<\/p>\n “Anti-clockwise is closed between J22 Holinwood Interchange (Oldham, Failsworth A62) and J19.<\/p>\n “This is due to a serious incident which has occurred within the J20 Alkrington Interchange (Blackley, Moston A664) Greater Manchester Police are leading the response to the incident and it is expected the road will be closed for a protracted period.<\/p>\n “North West Ambulance Service have also attended the incident.
