Tommy Fury\u2019s participation in a 100km triathlon on the French Riviera has prompted debate after organisers confirmed he did not complete the full course, despite crossing the finish line.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old, younger brother of world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, took part in his first triathlon last weekend after just ten days of training. <\/p>\n

Sharing photos and video of himself at the finish line with partner Molly-Mae Hague and their daughter Bambi, he wrote on social media: \u201cI left it all out in the French Riviera. 100km triathlon on 10 days training\u2026 completed.\u201d<\/p>\n

He later added, after footage showed him staggering over the line: \u201cGo ahead and roast my form\u2026 but could you sprint finish after a 100km triathlon?\u201d<\/p>\n

The event, run by the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), was billed as a 2km swim, an 80km bike ride and an 18km run.<\/p>\n

However, results published on the official Sportstats website recorded Fury as \u201cDid Not Finish.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to reports from Marathon Investigation, Fury was among 93 amateur athletes who did not complete the full cycling distance. Race data showed his bike splits stopped short of the 80km mark.<\/p>\n

The PTO later explained why some athletes were unable to complete the full course.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to our permit for the road closures in France, unfortunately Tommy and some other athletes in the 100km amateur race were unable to complete the bike course before the cut-off time,\u201d the organisation said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, given our philosophy to grow the sport and encourage new athletes, we wanted to give them as full an experience as possible. So they were all given the opportunity to do the 18km run and cross the finish line.\u201d<\/p>\n

The clarification led to mixed reactions online.<\/p>\n

Some questioned Fury\u2019s description of his achievement. Professional triathlete Noel Mulkey commented: \u201cMissed the swim cut off, and bike cut off? Just be honest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another response read: \u201cDNF, which is fine but own it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others, however, praised his efforts, with one fan writing: \u201cInsane achievement\u2026 be proud of what you accomplished. It\u2019s insane with only 0.01 per cent of the world\u2019s population ever completing this.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Fury, the triathlon was part of his efforts to maintain fitness during an uncertain period in his boxing career.<\/p>\n

The former Love Island contestant underwent hand surgery following his October 2023 win over KSI and aggravated the injury again in May during a comeback fight against Bosnian opponent Kenan Hanjalic.<\/p>\n
