Now, after bidding farewell to Yellowstone<\/a> \u2014 and producing series like Tulsa King and Landman \u2014 Sheridan seems eager to return to the ranch with a pair of modern-day spinoffs set to air on Paramount+.<\/p>\n

Both center on the children of John Dutton, the Montana rancher and politician played by Kevin Costner<\/a> on Yellowstone. One, Y: Marshals<\/a>, will follow\u00a0Luke Grimes<\/a>‘ Kayce Dutton as he begins a new career as a U.S. marshal. The other, tentatively titled Dutton Ranch, will highlight Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly<\/a>) and her husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser<\/a>), as they oversee the family’s ranch.<\/p>\n

According to its official logline, Dutton Ranch will pick up after the events of the Yellowstone finale, with Beth and Rip “grateful for the peace they sought, fought, and nearly died for with their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch.”<\/p>\n

The synopsis goes on to tease the importance of their son, Carter (Finn Little), to the story. “With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter becomes the man he’s supposed to be.”<\/p>\n

Both Reilly and Hauser have been tight-lipped when asked about the spinoff, but they both seemed keen on continuing to portray the characters. \u201cI am definitely interested in Beth, and who she is after some things have happened,” Reilly said in a November 2024 interview with Town & Country<\/a>. “Who is she in peace? As an actor you\u2019re like, \u2018Ooh, let me at that.’ Wouldn\u2019t it be fun to watch Beth go to therapy?\u201d<\/p>\n

That same month, she told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> that she has the utmost faith in Sheridan continuing Beth and Rip’s story. “I trust him with wherever he takes her; whether we\u2019re leaving her where we\u2019ve left her, or we\u2019re going to find her somewhere else, I trust him.”<\/p>\n

Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler on ‘Yellowstone’<\/p>\n

Sheridan will serve as an executive producer on Dutton Ranch, with Chad Feehan<\/a> serving as the showrunner and as an executive producer. Sheridan and Feehan previously worked together on Lawmen: Bass Reeves<\/a>, starring David Oyelowo<\/a>. Feehan created that miniseries, which was executive produced by Sheridan.<\/p>\n

Reilly and Hauser will also have a hand in its development, as both have signed on as executive producers. They’ll be joined by a number of Yellowstone alums in David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson<\/a>, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Christina Voros, and Keith Cox.<\/p>\n

An official cast list for Dutton Ranch has yet to be revealed, but we do know that Reilly, Hauser, and Little will be joined by five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening<\/a>. The veteran actress is best known for her work in films like American Beauty<\/a> (1999), The Kids Are All Right (2010), and Nyad<\/a> (2023).<\/p>\n

Bening will costar on the series as Beulah Jackson, who’s described as the powerful, cunning, and charming head of a major ranch in Texas. How she intersects with the Duttons is still a mystery.<\/p>\n

Last December, Deadline<\/a> reported that Dutton Ranch will likely welcome some familiar faces from the Yellowstone universe, which makes sense since the show isn’t uprooting its characters and will directly follow the events of its predecessor.<\/p>\n
