\n\tNearly 30 years after his death, Chris Farley<\/a>\u2018s biopic is inching closer toward production with Paul Walter Hauser<\/a> starring as the Saturday Night Live<\/a> alum.<\/p>\n

\n\tJosh Gad<\/a>, who was announced to direct A Chris Farley Story<\/a> for New Line<\/a> last year, recently shared an update on the \u201cambitious\u201d upcoming project, which he hopes \u201cto shoot early next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s ambitious as hell,\u201d Gad told Entertainment Weekly<\/a>, adding: \u201cWe\u2019re trying to rein in the budget a little, and the plan is still to shoot early next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter Hauser told EW, \u201cI don\u2019t wanna be 42 years old playing Chris at 25,\u201d Gad agreed, \u201cI, too, don\u2019t want Paul to get too much older [to play him].\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGad said, \u201cI\u2019m in the midst of going through the script right now with the studio, who\u2019s been incredibly supportive about finding those things that can reduce it to a greenlight-able budget because, right now, it\u2019s a period piece, it\u2019s a biopic, it\u2019s just super big, and we\u2019re just working towards doing this to it, and I think we\u2019re getting there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter Deadline exclusively reported<\/a> in April 2024 that New Line was in the process of jumping on Gad\u2019s pitch for a feature adaptation of The Chris Farley Show, the biography written by Farley\u2019s brother Tom Farley Jr. and Tanner Colby. The deal was closed<\/a> days later.<\/p>\n
