Oscar De La Hoya<\/a> has shared his final verdict on the upcoming \u2018super-fight\u2019 between Canelo Alvarez<\/a> and Terence Crawford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Canelo is just days away from defending his undisputed super-middleweight championship against \u2018Bud\u2019 Crawford at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Mexican icon began his second reign as the undisputed champion at 168lbs earlier this year when he defeated Cuba\u2019s former IBF super-middleweight champion William Scull in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

As for Crawford, the 37-year-old from Omaha last fought when he defeated WBA world champion Israil Madrimov in August 2024,<\/a> although he is now set to make the jump up in two whole weight classes ahead of his showdown with Canelo this Saturday.<\/p>\n

One man who knows Alvarez well is legendary fighter-turned-promoter De La Hoya, who promoted the Mexican superstar for a number of years under the Golden Boy Promotions banner, before a bitter fallout between the two.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Fight Hype<\/a>, De La Hoya sensationally claimed that the upcoming clash between Canelo and Crawford is \u2018laughable\u2019 as he seemingly backs the Mexican superstar to defeat \u2018Bud\u2019 this weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow what the media is reporting and it\u2019s circulating is that Canelo vs. Crawford is the biggest fight of the decade. I mean to a purist and a fighter, it\u2019s laughable because you have Crawford jumping up two weight classes to fight Canelo who\u2019s a natural light-heavyweight? Crawford who couldn\u2019t push back Madrimov? Life and death with Madrimov. What do you think Canelo is going to do to him? Run him out of the ring!\u201d<\/p>\n

Many fans and analysts have expressed their concerns at Crawford making such a significant jump in weight to face Canelo, especially considering the 35-year-old from Guadalajara has campaigned at 168lbs since making the move up from middleweight back in 2018.<\/p>\n
