Ellen DeGeneres<\/a> has said she\u2019d \u2018love\u2019 to host a talk show in the UK after moving over from the US<\/a>. However, there\u2019s one problem.<\/p>\n The American comedian, 67, moved to Britain with her wife, Portia de Rossi, 52,<\/a> in November last year, deciding to set up a new life here<\/a> after Donald Trump<\/a> was re-elected.<\/p>\n While she tends to keep a low profile these days, this weekend, Ellen made her first public appearance since relocating, joining a conversation with Richard Bacon at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham.<\/p>\n She reflected on the bullying scandal that rocked her hit talk show in the States, ultimately leading to a decline in popularity and its full cancellation in 2022.<\/p>\n After fronting over 3,000 episodes, Ellen hosted her final episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in May of that year, having been engulfed by accusations of a toxic workplace and at the centre of a wider investigation.<\/p>\n Despite it leading to a decline in viewership, Ellen has remained defiant in the face of the allegations, now saying she\u2019d jump at the chance to replicate some success in the UK.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t But while she misses her old chat show \u2018a lot\u2019, she isn\u2019t sure its format would work anymore, as she explained tonight in quotes obtained by BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2018I mean, I wish it did, because I would do the same thing here. I would love to do that again,\u2019 she admitted. \u2018But I just feel like people are watching on their phones, or people aren\u2019t really paying attention as much to televisions, because we\u2019re so inundated with information and entertainment.\u2019<\/p>\n Ellen confessed to having no plans for what she wants to do next, but she\u2019ll be planning her future career moves \u2018very carefully\u2019.<\/p>\n \u2018I just don\u2019t know what that is yet,\u2019 she stated, declaring that she does want to have \u2018fun\u2019 after growing \u2018bored\u2019 in recent months, now that she\u2019s not in front of the bright lights and cameras.<\/p>\n Ellen, who now lives in a sprawling Cotswolds mansion<\/a>, previously spoke about being \u2018cancelled\u2019 by the internet when she was accused of being \u2018mean\u2019 to staff behind the scenes.<\/p>\n She once called the accusations of toxicity behind the cameras of her show \u2018orchestrated\u2019 and \u2018misogynistic\u2019, later telling her 2024 tour crowd<\/a> that she struggled with knowing how to confront the matter.<\/p>\n \t\t To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web \u2018No matter what, any article that came up, it was like, \u201cShe\u2019s mean,\u201d and it\u2019s like, how do I deal with this without sounding like a victim or \u201cpoor me\u201d or complaining? But I wanted to address it,\u2019 she said in the accompanying Netflix stand-up special.<\/p>\n \u2018It\u2019s as simple as I\u2019m a direct person, and I\u2019m very blunt, and I guess sometimes that means that\u2026 I\u2019m mean?\u2019<\/p>\n The accusations against Ellen and her talk show gained widespread media attention when the complainants came forward<\/a> in 2020. The host was said to have enabled not only the \u2018toxic\u2019 atmosphere but also \u2018racism, fear, and intimidation\u2019.<\/p>\n Furthermore, Ellen was accused of failing to address higher-ups sexually harassing female employees and directing \u2018racist micro-aggressions and abuse\u2019 towards employees of colour.
